Paragon is a free-to-play MOBA that's currently in closed beta, with a full launch planned for later this year on PC and PlayStation 4. However, Epic shouldn't feel too bad about taking attention away from Overwatch's launch, since Blizzard's game held its open beta on the same weekend as Battleborn's release.
PARAGON GAME BETA FREE
Overwatch will be launching the same weekend as Paragon is holding its Free Beta Weekend. Of course, beyond Paragon game players will have plenty of other options should they decide to wait for the open beta. Epic is offering Founders Packs for as low as $19.99, which grant immediate access to the ongoing closed beta. However, should those who have an exceptional amount of fun during the Free Beta Weekend, there is another option once the servers close down again. The plan is for Paragon to be released as a free-to-play MOBA later this year, but the game is currently in beta for testing as Epic Games hammers down the game mechanics and its servers. Epic says anyone who registers by the May 25 deadline will be able to "hit the battlefields of Agora." All gamers need to do is register over at the official Paragon website and access for the Free Beta Weekend will be granted as it starts. Progress in the Free Beta Weekend will continue forward tied to players' accounts, which is why Epic Games will need players to register for the beta in order to play. Paragon's card system, however, is more like Battleborn, requiring players to acquire packs and build their own deck to take into games and purchase items. All of the game's roster is open and free for players to use, similar to Dota 2's unlocked roster. That roster will include the latest Hero added to the game, GRIM.exe, a tiny imp that powers a huge sentry robot armed with a pulse cannon. Paragon's Free Beta Weekend will run from May 26 through May 30, offering full access to the game and its roster of 16 Heroes. Starting May 26, Paragon will host a Free Beta Weekend for all players willing to pre-register. Besides, Epic had a world-beating hit on their hands with Fortnite. Today came the announcement of the game's first opening to a larger audience. However, Paragon never made it out of open beta on PC and PS4, the game struggling to find any kind of mainstream appeal.
As yetm the MOBA shooter is still in closed beta, with Epic making significant changes to the game as community feedback rolls in. The ongoing battle for online multiplayer supremacy continues as Epic Games' upcoming third-person MOBA, Paragon, pushes closer to a launch later this year.
